2011 Class Rules 1.Stock Type Halter This class includes Quarter Horses, Paints, Appaloosas, and all other stock type horses.Horses are to be judged on ideal breed confirmation and movement at a walk and trot.Man-made blemishes to be disregarded in the judging.Stallions, mares, and geldings will show as one class.Correct English or western tack and attire required.Exhibitors and horse combination are ineligible for class #2.
2.Non-Stock Type Halter This class includes Arabians, Saddlebreds, Morgans, Walkers, Fox Trotters, and Thoroughbreds.Other rules see Stock Type Halter.Exhibitor and horse combination are ineligible for class #1.
3.Adult Showmanship Open to exhibitors 18 years and over.To be judged on exhibitor’s ability to present their horse in the best possible manner while performing a pattern.No stallions, weanlings or yearlings allowed.
4.Youth Showmanship #1 Open to exhibitors 12 years and under.Other rules see Adult Showmanship.
5.Youth Showmanship #2 Open to exhibitors 13-17 years of age.Other rules see Adult Showmanship.
6.Lead Line Open to riders 6 years and under.Person leading must be 16 years or older.Lead horse both directions of he arena at a walk.To be judged on appearance of horse, rider, and person leading as well as the rider’s ability.Riders are not eligible to show in any class other than Youth Showmanship #1.
7.Adult English Walk-Trot Open to riders 18 years and over.Correct English tack and attire required and no training devices.Horses are to be shown at a walk and trot both directions of the arena and may be asked to back.Jackets are optional.
8.Open Gaited “Trail Horse” Pleasure Open to flat shod gaited horses only.Correct English or western tack and attire required.Horses are to be shown at a walk and slow gait, and may be asked to back.
9.Adult English Pleasure Open to riders 18 years and over.Correct English tack and attire required and no training devices.To be shown at a walk, trot, and canter both directions of the arena, may be asked to back.Jackets are optional.
10.Youth Walk-Trot/Favorite Gait #1 Open to riders 12 years and under.Correct English or western tack and attire required no training devices.To be shown at a walk and trot or favorite gait both directions of the arena, no canter or lope allowed.
11.Youth Walk-Trot/Favorite Gait #2 Open to riders 13-17 years of age.Other rules see Youth Walk-Trot/Favorite Gait #1.
12.Open Gaited Open to gaited horses of all breeds, padded or flat shod.Correct English or western tack and attire required.To be shown at a walk, slow gait and fast gait.
13.Jack Benny Country Pleasure Open to riders 39 years and over.Open to all breeds of horses.Correct English or western tack and attire required no training devices.To be shown at a walk and trot or favorite gait both directions of the arena.
14.Youth English Equitation Open to rider 17 years and under.To be judged on the rider’s ability to control and exhibit their horse.Correct English tack and attire required and no training devices.Horses are to be shown at a walk, trot and canter both directions of the arena.No pattern.
15.Adult Western Walk-Trot Open to riders 18 years and over.Correct western tack and attire required and no training devices.Horses are to be shown at a walk and jog.
16.Open Horsemanship Purpose is to show riding ability via communication with the horse by performing a specified pattern.The rider with the most correct riding position and the best score in performing the pattern is the winner.Correct English or western tack and attire required.Prohibited:mechanical hackamores, draw reins, tie downs, any type or martingale, crops, bats and whips.
17.Junior Horse Pleasure Open to riders 14 years and over, and horses 5 years of age and under.Correct English or western tack and attire required and no training devices.Horses can be shown in non-mechanical hackamore, snaffle, or bosal.Two hands are permitted with bosal or snaffle without shanks.Teeth or papers may be checked.
18.Youth Western Equitation Open to riders 17 years and under.To be judged on rider’s ability to control and exhibit their horse.Correct western tack and attire required and no training devices.
19.Adult Western Pleasure Open to riders 18 years and over.Correct western tack and attire required and no training devices.To be shown at a walk, jog, and lope both directions of the arena.May be asked back, extend gait or do additional work at judge’s discretion.
20.Gaited Country Pleasure Open to flat shod gaited horses only.Horses are to be shown at a walk and favorite gait.Correct English or western tack and attire required.
21.Open Jackpot Western Pleasure Cost is $5 and $3 will be jackpotted.See Adult Western Pleasure for additional rules.
22.Novelty Any timed event will follow timed event rules and any pleasure event will follow the pleasure rules.Last show is always costume class which is shown at a walk.
23.Trail You will have 3 minutes to complete the pattern of 4 obstacles, after 3 minutes you will be asked to leave the arena.This class will be judged on the ability of the horse and rider to complete the pattern correctly in the time given. Acceptable obstacles include: ·Gate- Losing contact or control of the gate is penalized ·Ground Poles- ride over at least 4 poles.These can be in a straight line, curved, zigzag, or raised.Spacing must be as follows:walk over-22-24 in. apart, elevated- no more than 12 in. apart, trot or appropriate gait- 3-6 feet apart elevated up to 8 in. ·Backing obstacles- obstacle must be at least 28 in. apart ·Serpentine obstacles at a walk, jog, or appropriate gait- spacing 6 feet ·Carry an object from one part of the arena to another- only objects reasonably carried on a trail can be used ·Put on and remove a slicker ·Remove and replace a material from a mailbox ·Side Pass ·360 degree turn Show management may use any other safe and negotiable obstacles which would reasonably be encountered on a trail.A combination of two or more obstacles is also acceptable.
24-30. Speed Events Western tack is required.Must wear ASTM approved helmet if you are 17 years and under.No spurring, batting, and/or whipping in front of the saddle or hitting in front of the throatlatch.Horses must start and stop within the arena.Breaking the pattern, walking, backing up, or crossing the pattern will result in an automatic disqualification.Five second penalty will be added to time for knocking down a pole or barrel.No inhumane treatment tolerated.For Open Jackpot Barrels, the cost is $5 and $3 is jackpotted.

2010 General Horse Show Rules
The judge’s word is final.He or she shall enforce all of the following rules and regulations that apply to the classes and progress of the show.Judge to be at arena for all events and shall call infraction of the rules that he or she sees.No complaints directly to the judge.
Appropriate tack and attire required.No ball caps, tennis shoes, tank tops or T-Shirts allowed.See specific class rules.
There will be a disqualification for the use of inhumane equipment or treatment.
Any person may be banned from show grounds for improper conduct.
Horses must be under control at all times.Horses deemed to be dangerous to the rider or others will be excused.
No alcoholic beverages allowed at the show.
No horses or vehicles allowed around the refreshment stand or bleachers.
Riders will stop their horses immediately if a rider is down in the arena for any reason.
No one other than authorized personnel is allowed in the announcer’s stand.
Children must be under adult supervision at all times.
Person’s age as of January 1 determines class eligibility.
Points are kept on the horse and rider combination. The horse and rider combination must earn at least 1 point per class as a member and work an additional show for points to count toward a high point trophy.For new applicants, points will be kept upon receipt of application and initiation fee paid.
If member’s scheduled show to work is cancelled, he/she must sign up to work another show.If that show was the last show of the season, then the Show Chairperson will randomly drop points for one show.The date to be dropped will be pulled out of a hat at the next meeting.
No youth are allowed to show a stallion.
No running or trotting horses outside of arena, except in warm-up arena.
Pets must be leashed at all times.
Yearlings and weanlings can only be shown by and exhibitor 16 years and over.
Western tack is required for all speed events. Helmets are required for all riders 17 years and under in speed classes.
Members 12 years and under must have a parent or guardian to work with them.
Only 5 places can be awarded per class and no ties.
21. Only horses 5 years and under are allowed to be shown in a ring snaffle or bosal, English horses are exempt.
General riding etiquette should be observed at all times.
